Tea, Earl Grey, Hot.

Where is there a good place to get loose leaf tea? Either a shop in the
south bay or via on line. I suppose that I'm a bit addicted to Twinnigs
Earl Grey but at $5+ for a small tin at Albertsons, I need to find a
better source.

Any suggestions???

Thanks,TJ

I quite like both the Whole Foods' brand loose leaf Earl Grey, and the
Peets brand of Earl Grey, both with Lavender, and without.

And believe it or not, the Tazo Early Grey isn't bad, although it's in
bags.

I recently was introduced to the Harney brand of teas - they are
carrying them at the Starbucks concession at the Barnes and Noble on
Stevens Creek and San Tomas. Inhaling the bouquets of their teas is
like walking in an English garden, or a potpourri shop, or something.
They're incredible.

The 99 Ranch chain has a varied loose tea selection at reasonable
prices. There's no loose Earl Grey but there must be 10 other
varieties including black, oolong and green. I particularly like the
jasmine and the variety that has roasted barley in it. The 100-gram
Foo Joy containers are a couple of dollars and the tins themselves are
fairly nice. I've also had good luck ordering from the Stash Tea
website and I'm almost positive they carry loose Earl.

I have been buying most of my tea from www.leaves.com

Don't question authority. What makes you think they
know anything? (Remove the first dot for a valid e-mail

One of my favorite brick-and-mortar tea shops, Lhasa Karnak Herb
Company in Berkeley, sells online here: http://www.herb-inc.com

The site is pretty low-tech and it looks to me like they do more
phone-in business than on-line, but their selection and prices are
excellent. I cannot vouch for their mailorder or online service -
they're just very conscientious in person. You could give it a shot.

Also, have you tried your nearest Indian foods grocery? They often
have loose teas. And Middle Eastern markets do, too. I got a really
nice, large tin of British-Pakistani Earl Grey in a Middle Eastern
market in POway, CA once for some unbelievably cheap price. The tin is
so handsome, I'm still using it. The tea was quite good, too.

I hope nobody has already suggested this -- if so, apologies.
Doesn't Cost Plus have lots of Twining's teas? Or is it only in bags ...
